Santosa Wellness Centre is a tranquil oasis located in the Kata region of Phuket, a stone’s throw from shops, cafes and restaurants – not that you’ll be needing the latter because the vegan restaurant at this place is seriously amazing.
They do a vegan buffet on Wednesday and Saturday evenings and we were blown away by both the options, and how tasty the offering was. In the past I have sometimes found vegan food to be a bit underwhelming (soz vegans, nothing personal!) but this was hearty, filling, and tastebud-friendly. I don’t know what they did to that eggplant, but dear God it was good.
We came to Santosa to relax, enjoy the facilities, and the aforementioned vegan deliciousness, but most people come to experience the centre’s core offering – their detox programs.
They have lots of different options available, including a juice fast detox (which includes a twice daily colon cleanse), a raw food detox, the healthy eating program (where you follow a specially designed vegan diet), a yoga and spa retreat, an active cleanse (exercise-based), or you can do a one-day detox.
If you choose to do as we did, you can still take part in the daily exercise classes, and workshops. You can also book massages and spa treatments, lounge around the pool and enjoy fresh juices and tasty brekkies at the juice bar.
I would definitely recommend the granola (sooo good) and also being a bit adventurous and giving aerial yoga a whirl. (Although not necessarily in that order, for the sake of your guts)
While on the topic of recommendations, if you fancy seeing/doing some hilarious facial expressions (and feeling fabulous afterwards) try the hold cold therapy – a couple of minutes in their sauna, before plunging into the ice bath.
