I had the absolute pleasure of catching up with the very lovely Rachael Finch for breakfast in Sydney the other day. She shared some of her favourite dining spots, and gave us the lowdown on her new book and online program. Introducing Rachael Finch x
Hi Rachael! You wear a lot of hats between being a mum, television host, health coach and model (to name a few!) and so we’d love to know, how would you describe yourself?
I want Violet to look up to me as a role model and best friend. I work hard to provide a good future for her but to also teach her the importance of respecting yourself and being an independent, strong woman who appreciates her time on earth. Gratitude goes a long way.
In addition to your very exciting pregnancy (congratulations!) there’s also a lot of wonderful, exciting things happening in your professional life right now with the launch of your new online program Body Of Dance by Rachael Finch and your book Happy, Healthy, Strong. How do you find the time (and energy) to keep all of your projects ticking along?
Thank you! I can’t wait to meet him or her! I take each day as it comes and try to be mindful every step along the way – this allows me to make better decisions at any given time and appreciate everything we are doing. Misha and I love creating and working on projects and being able to do something like B.O.D together has been a dream. It is the most fun and easiest ways to stay fit and has truly transformed my body and life since I started learning. I can’t imagine life without it.
Could you please tell us a bit about Body Of Dance by Rachael Finch and Happy Healthy Strong? What can people expect?
Sure! B.O.D is an easy to learn, super fun, dance-inspired online workout program. Each week consists of 3 dance workouts, 2 dance-inspired circuit classes, 1 stretch/ yoga session and 1 day of rest. On top of that we have worked closely with nutritionists and physiologists to develop meal plans and mindfulness activities to complement your week, whilst offering meal swaps and substitutions for unique diets. You do not need any dance experience or a partner to do the program – just yourself and a desire to transform your body and life! We have developed B.O.D with my love and have created it to be a home for you to come and be inspired to make change.
Happy Healthy Strong is a complete guide to everything in my world surrounding health and wellness in one book. I have included 85+ recipes, my fitness tips, mindfulness tools, time management and goal setting tips. It’s been an exciting project I’ve been working on for a few years now and I have loved the journey.
Food is obviously very important to you and a big part of what you do, what are your top cafes for a healthy breakfast in Sydney?
Some nights I go to bed thinking about what I want for breakfast! I love food, but breakfast in particular has a sweet spot with me – I feel it really helps set the mood for how my day pans out. My faves are – Sub Station in Alexandria, Bread & Circus in Alexandria, Speedos Cafe in North Bondi, Nutrition Station in Bondi Junction mall and Lox Stock & Barrel in Bondi.

And your favourite spots to grab dinner in Sydney?
Our first date was at Toko in Surry Hills, so we love going there quite often for a nice meal! I also love Drake in Bondi, Doyles in Watsons Bay, Chiswick in Woolahra and Spice Temple in the city.
When you’re at home, what’s your go-to snack?
Definitely a smoothie at the moment being the peak of summer! I’m loving a choc peanut butter combo using almond milk and superfood green powder!
This might be a tough one, but what’s the best meal you’ve ever had?
The chocolate pancakes I shared with Misha on our very first date (at Pancakes on the Rocks after Toko). I’ll never forget how I felt and how it tasted.
And last but not least, what’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Listen and trust everything your body tells you. It’s the most intelligent thing you know and the only place you have to live. Do what works for you!
