If you lurrrve delicious dips and fresh bread then you will definitely like Shuk in North Bondi. The café’s cuisine is a nod to its three owners’ heritage, providing patrons with a delicious mix of Arabic, Turkish, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean menu options.

Beghrir pancakes

Shuk was born out of a love of great food and fresh, tasty bread. The cafes’ three owners, Yoni Kalfus, Erez Beker and Ariel Hefer wanted to bring this mutual love of good food to the world, and create a place where freshness, comfort and taste are celebrated in a relaxed atmosphere.

The bakery is a central element of the café and they make fresh bagels, muffins, pastries and bread in house (so many perfect plus ones to your skinny cap). Their hummus is also prepared fresh daily AND they make their own mayo.

Mezze plate

According to Erez, the shakshuka is the number one dish for brekkie. I can confirm that this popularity is justifiable after tasting it myself – the green shakshuka is delish.

My friends and I shared a number of dishes (all yummy) but I feel that a special mention needs to be made of the pancakes. #ahhhmazeballs. I’m not generally a pancake person, but they were phenomenal. And conveniently located near my end of the table – to the detriment of my friends. Oopsy.

You’ll find that the dinner menu has a strong Mediterranean feel to it and, if you do pop in for dinner, Erez recommends that you try the charred eggplant salad.

Happy dining! X
