Two new food spots and one EPIC menu update. Oh yes. Here’s what my recent food adventures in Melbourne have looked like.
This newbie is nestled in the uber hip burb of Fitzroy.
Brekkie wise, they have a good range of dishes. We’re talking chilli scramble (with chorizo and aged manchego cheese), sweetcorn and zucchini fritters, supercharged bircher and avo toast. Nomz.
I opted for the citrus cured NZ salmon “fatto in casa” with beetroot three ways, blood orange, dill, whipped goat’s feta, polenta and parmesan hash, poached egg and walnut ash + the brioche French toast with candied bacon and green tea poached pears. AH-MAZING.
Cool canteen met cool grocery story and they had a cool baby called Jack Horner. This spot cranks out brekkie from 7 and canteen style meals later in the day.
They’ve got wicked jaffles (hellloooo bolognese and cheese) and whip up the most DELISH savoury cauliflower pancake with asparagus, dukka and avocado (see pic below). Special mention for their salted caramel, banana and maple smoothie too – #whatdreamsaremadeof.
These guys have relaunched their lunch/dinner menu and it is the goods. They serve up modern Australian cuisine with a Meditteranean flair – and they do it well. Check out the soft shell black crab burger and the pear crumble pizzetta with salted caramel.
