MR MISTER CAFE

Bright, beautiful, delicious food on one of Melbourne’s most renowned shopping strips – hello heaven.

Mr. Mister sits at the Windsor end of Chapel Street, making it the perfect post-shopping/pre-shopping food destination.

The café was opened in December 2014 and is the brainchild of owner Tyson Chambers. In creating Mr. Mister, Tyson set out to provide customers with a destination café that combines mouthwatering dishes with an architecturally beautiful space that seamlessly blends the café’s indoor and outdoor spaces.

He has certainly been successful in this endeavor.

Mr. Mister is bright and modern, with ample indoor seating, a courtyard out the back (that will soon have a waterproof awning to safeguard your new purchases from rainy Melbourne days) and seating out the front as well. The café can easily accommodate large groups and takes mid-week bookings for groups of eight or more – making it a great place to hold a catch up with friends.

If I had to sum it up in one word, both the space and the food, that word would be fresh.

The white walls, American Oak tables and pops of colour make a beautiful backdrop. (Side note: avid Instagrammers will be pleased to know that the space has lots of natural light – perfect for photo taking!)

Menu-wise, breakfast-lovers will be delighted to hear that brekkie runs all day. Your 2pm cravings for pea and corn fritters can be easily accommodated!

Secondly, the kitchen is run by Head Chef Johnpaul Dargan whose impressive resume includes the likes of The Hardware Societe, Church St Enoteca and The Deck (Southgate).

The food is modern and fresh, and features locally sourced produce. The menu is also easily adjustable to suit gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan requirements.

The ever-popular smashed avocado comes on seeded bread with buffalo mozzarella, baby basil and marinated cherry tomatoes and is SERIOUSLY good. A special mention must go to the quinoa salad – it comes with a beetroot and goats-cheese-puree, crispy egg and a pomegranate dressing and the flavours work really well together.

Those with a sweet tooth are also well looked after, with a number of options such as bircher muesli, a smoothie bowl, banana bread and the acai bowl.

Oh, and if it all just gets too deliciously overwhelming to choose, you can opt for the breakfast board – which combines savory and sweet. Happy days.

If you don’t have time to sit down to enjoy lunch, they also offer takeaway lunch packs for you to enjoy on the go.

Happy dining!
