If you like éclairs and are in Sydney, then you’re in luck because I have found éclair HEAVEN.
La Maison de L’éclair is located in Bondi and owned by husband and wife team Frederic and Laurence Caillon. They are the same duo behind the hugely popular Croquembouche Patisserie and, believe me, they know their pastries.
Laurence grew up in Africa. The daughter of doctors, her family re-located every three to four years. Her history is fascinating and includes starting a law degree, moving to Florida to complete a degree in marketing, living in Monaco while working as a translator and being a financial adviser in New Caledonia.
Fortunately for us, she eventually ended up in Australia and now runs La Maison de L’éclair with her husband (who is a pastry chef).
The store stocks 26 types of sweet eclairs and 10 savoury ones. You can expect to find unusual flavours (like pavlova) and crowd favourites like salted caramel, plus they do specials on weekends and at certain times of the year. (An Easter éclair is currently in the works!)
Not only does their stuff taste incredible, but their presentation is also immaculate. Their attention to detail and passion for what they do comes across in every bite.
Speaking of bites, they will soon be offering share plates with bite sized yummies for 2-4 people to enjoy. The plates will include a mixture of sweet and savoury, such as petit fours, chocolates and macarons.
La Maison de L’éclair also serve breakfast (hellooooo French crepes!) and have a number of catering options available too.
