33 floors up in the sky, enjoying a 360 degree view of Perth while enjoying delicious food. Need I say anymore?
C Restaurant is Western Australia’s only revolving restaurant. It serves lunch and dinner from the 33rd floor of St. Martins Tower on St Georges Terrace, in Perth’s CBD.
I really want to talk about how yum the food was, but first I need to stress the absolute coolness of dining that high up. The restaurant has floor to ceiling windows and your first glance of the view as you exit the lift is literally breath taking.
The restaurant moves slowly, taking 90 minutes to do a full rotation. The speed is such that you won’t feel queasy as you rotate and you also have ample time to enjoy the view of Perth and its surrounds.
You can choose to have a champagne or sparkling high tea. The former includes a glass of Moet and Chandon, and the latter, a glass of sparkling white. Both also include a leaf tea of your choosing or percolated coffee.
If you’re feeling adventurous, they also offer green tea margaritas – a blend of Zen green tea liqueur with lemon juice, Gomme syrup, Green Sencha iced tea, tequila and Cointreau.
There is also the option of having an alcohol-free classic high tea, which is a bit cheaper.
I opted for the sparkling high tea. It took me sometime to pick a tea out of the options available (English breakfast, earl grey, chamomile, peppermint, Green Sencha, gunpowder, lemongrass and ginger, chai or iced tea) but I eventually settled on chai and was not disappointed with my decision.
Cedric Tranchant, who has previously worked for Claridge’s Hotel in London, is one of four pastry chefs responsible for the foodie side of the high tea. This includes an assortment of sandwiches, tarts, macaroons and scones.
C Restaurant serves high tea 7 days a week, between 2-4pm, Sunday to Friday, with guests able to have the table until 5pm. On Saturdays, bookings can be made between 1-2:30pm, and guests can have the table until 4pm.
