Yup, I know I’m giving my work a shameless plug here BUT I’m seriously passionate about the topic and believe in the product, so I feel it’s justifiable!

For those of you who may not know, I work for Diabetes WA in a health promotion/marketing capacity. I do my work remotely in addition to running my own marketing consultancy and feel like they should probably win the prize of #mostsupportiveworkplaceever. It’s thanks to their faith and support that I’m able to scoot around the country doing all the different things I love.

I’m the token marketing human in the health services team. Which means that I handle the marketing of our preventative programs.

The purpose of our programs is to help people make small, sustainable changes that will lead to better health in the long term. They don’t tell you to never have treats (that wouldn’t be fun) nor are they telling you to make drastic, sudden lifestyle changes (#unsustainable). Instead, they’re there to inform you and support you along the path to better health.

They’re evidence based and completely FREE (woohoo!!).

Sometimes people can shy away from free things for fear of them being of poor quality. However, we’re funded by the Department of Health to deliver these programs. So you can rest assured that they have been developed by health professionals, and aren’t some daggy free thing. Plus, thanks to a recent rebranding, they’re looking pretty schmick as well (if I do say so myself).

Here’s a brief rundown of My Healthy Balance and Get on Track Challenge. Even though they make reference to Western Australian adults, all Australians are able to use them.

For more about what Diabetes WA has to offer, check out our website – Healthy Balance is an online, evidence-based healthy lifestyle program that will provide you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to live a healthy lifestyle.
